Online Driver Safety Training & Certification

A custom training platform built for Prism Consulting that lets employees complete a required driver safety course entirely online. The system handles account creation, video lessons, quizzes, certificate generation, and admin tracking for over 330 drivers across 6 locations.

Overview

Prism Consulting needed a way to offer driver safety training to their clients' employees without relying on expensive third-party platforms. The solution: a fully custom web application that walks users through a structured training module, verifies completion, and gives administrators full visibility into progress and records.

Every step tracked. Every completion verified. Every record in one place.

The Challenge

The training had to be taken seriously. That meant no skipping the video, no guessing through the quiz, and no way to fake a certificate. It also had to be simple enough for employees of all technical skill levels, while giving Prism's team the backend tools they needed to manage users and records across multiple client locations.

The Solution

We built a full-stack training platform in Next.js with Google Firebase handling authentication, file storage, and the database. Trainees create an account, watch a training video with skip protection via YouTube integration, then take a scored quiz. Once they pass, the system generates a downloadable certificate of completion. On the admin side, Prism can track user progress, view and download certificates, deactivate accounts, and manage records across all locations. The platform also handles automatic email notifications and password validation, and it's fully responsive for mobile use.

Results

The platform gives Prism Consulting a reliable, cost-effective training tool they can offer to clients as part of their HR services. What used to require third-party licensing and manual tracking now runs on a single, purpose-built system.
