Vistoso Creative is an independent Virginia web design studio in downtown Staunton. We design, build, and look after hand-built websites for small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations across the state, in person or remotely, with the prices on the page before you ever call.
One studio, from the first sketch to years of upkeep
Most of our projects are websites, but the work rarely stops at the homepage. Here’s what we take on. The person who scopes your project is the person who builds it.
Hand-built websites
No themes and no page builders. We design each site around the business it’s for, write the copy with you, and build it on Next.js and Payload CMS, so pages load fast and everything stays yours: domain, code, content, and hosting.
Search, statewide and local
We structure every site around what your customers type into Google, from “near me” searches to the name of your town. For businesses that serve several places, we write a page for each one instead of copying the same page with a new town name.
A site your team can run
We build on Payload CMS because volunteers and non-technical staff can update it without fear. Every launch comes with one-on-one training and written guides, so the next edit never waits on us.
Upkeep after launch
Monthly plans cover hosting, security, backups, a block of edits, and a quarterly Site Refresh (a scheduled review where we update images, copy, and layout). You can leave whenever you like and take the whole site with you.
Shopify stores
We’re a Shopify Partner. We set up and customize stores for shops, makers, and product brands, then keep them running with monthly care. The store, the customer list, and the sales are yours.
Brand design
Logos and brand guides with files you own and instructions written for your people, so the brand holds together on the website, the sign out front, and the social posts.
You know your business. We know websites. The best ones get built in the room together.

Choosing a studio
How to compare web designers in Virginia
Search for website design in Virginia and most of page one is directories and agency homepages. The directories sort studios by reviews, hourly rates, and minimum project sizes. The agency pages mostly ask you to request a quote. Neither answers the three questions that decide whether a new website works out.
Roughly what will it cost? Who updates the site after launch? And can you check the work yourself, on live sites?
We publish our pricing as starting points, so you know where a project begins before we ever talk, and the Fit Call is where we work out what your project needs. We train your team on a CMS built for people who aren’t developers, and every number on this page links to its source. For the longer version, read our guide to choosing a web designer.
Named clients, live work
Websites and web apps we’ve built for Virginia clients
For Prism Consulting, an accounting and consulting firm in Staunton, we redesigned a 13-page site with original copy throughout. We also built Prism two private tools: an online driver safety course and a workplace incident reporting platform.
For Generations Tree Expert Co, a tree service in Greenville, we moved the site off WordPress and wrote its service and location pages around what customers search. Valley Women’s Weekend in Staunton sells tickets and books appointments through the site we built. The Friends of the Staunton Library keep members, financials, and donor acknowledgements in one database we built for them, and City-County Sports publishes its high school coverage and sells its ads on a platform we built.

Valley Women's Weekend
An event site with Stripe ticketing and a booking system that gives every ticket holder their own appointment slot.

How a project runs, wherever you are in Virginia
The same five steps for every client. Most of the work happens on calls and a shared preview link, and we meet in person when that helps.
30 minutes
Fit Call
A video or phone call about your business, your current site, and what the new one has to do. You leave knowing whether we’re the right studio for it and roughly what it would cost.
Step 2 of 5
Scope and price
We write up the pages, features, and timeline, with the build price and the monthly plan quoted up front. Nothing starts until you’ve signed off on it.
Step 3 of 5
Design and build
Real pages show up on a live preview link as they come together, so your feedback lands while it’s still cheap to act on. We write the copy with you, around what your customers search.
Step 4 of 5
Launch and training
We handle DNS, redirects, analytics, and Search Console, then train your team one on one and leave written guides, so updates don’t wait on us.
Step 5 of 5
Ongoing care
Your monthly plan covers hosting, security, backups, edits, and a quarterly Site Refresh. When something needs attention, you talk to the person who built the site.
Questions about website design in Virginia
Yes. We’re based in downtown Staunton and work with businesses across Virginia. Most of a project happens over calls and a shared preview link, and we meet in person for kickoffs and check-ins when that helps.
With us, builds start at $2,000 and monthly plans start at $100, covering hosting, maintenance, and edits. Every plan and add-on is on our pricing page. Plenty of studios quote only after a call. We’d rather you see the numbers first.
Yes, that’s the point. We build on Payload CMS, which is made for people who aren’t developers, and every launch includes one-on-one training and written guides. See how editing works.
Not always. If your site is doing its job, we’ll say so. When it isn’t, we move your content over and rebuild on faster ground, the way we did when Generations Tree Expert Co left WordPress.
It’s built to. We structure pages around what your customers search, set up Search Console and analytics at launch, and keep your business information consistent across the web. If you serve more than one town, we write a page for each place, not one page copied three times.
Yes. We’ve built membership tools and websites for nonprofits and community groups, and registered nonprofits get 20% off monthly plans.
The person who scopes your project builds it, and answers when you call after launch. There’s no account manager in between.
